How to Enable or Disable your Print Spooler

The PrintNightmare Vulnerability has impacted all Windows Operating Systems from Windows 7 to Windows Server 2019.

If you need to enable or disable printing there are multiple ways to do so. Here is the simplest way to enable or disable the Print Spooler on Windows 10 Operating Systems:

1 – Hit Windows Key + R to open the Run Dialogue Box.

2 – Type “services.msc” and hit enter to open services, scroll to the “Print Spooler” service

3 – Double click on the Print Spooler service to get into the settings

4 – Select “disabled” for startup type.

5 – To stop the Print Spooler hit “stop” then hit “apply.”

6 – To start the Print Spooler hit “start” then hit “apply.”

When you try to print with the Print Spooler stopped your computer will say that no printer is connected.

This also impacts your ability to print as PDF because that still relies on the print spooler service, but you WILL be able to choose to save as PDF in a lot of programs
